Nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment in northern Tanzania, Lake Manyara National Park is one of the most scenic parks in the country. Although relatively small compared to Serengeti or Ngorongoro (covering around 330 square kilometers), it’s incredibly diverse in habitat, wildlife, and activities.
Lake Manyara is a shallow alkaline lake that makes up about two-thirds of the park’s surface area. The rest of the park features groundwater forests, open savannahs, hot springs, and acacia woodlands. This variety supports a surprising abundance of wildlife and makes Lake Manyara a true gem a sweet spot for both first-time and seasoned safari-goers.
