Depart Arusha or Moshi at 08:00 for Marangu Gate to register. Trek through Kilimanjaro’s lush rainforest, stopping for a picnic at Kisambioni. Continue to Mandara Hut for rest, or take a short walk to Mahundi Crater, enjoying panoramic views of Taveta and Mawenzi Peak on clear days

After breakfast, depart Mandara Hut and Kilimanjaro forests to Horombo Hut. Most of the day’s hike will be through Kilimanjaro moorland, a rocky landscape with desert-like plants. Have your picnic lunch at Kambi ya Taabu before continuing to Horombo Hut. If the day is clear, enjoy beautiful views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Arrive at Horombo Hut at around 1500hrs and spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing.

Horombo's additional day and night are perfect for body adaptation. To aid in acclimatization, it is highly advised to hike through Zebra Rocks on the route to Mawenzi (about 3 hours up and 1.5 hours down).

After breakfast, continue ascending into the Alpine desert, passing the last water point at 4,130m (13,550ft). Fill your bottles for the next two days, as the summit lies 1,195m (3,921ft) higher. Rest early around 18:30 to conserve energy for the final nighttime ascent to Kibo Hut.

Wake around 23:30 for tea before starting the toughest climb. Ascend rocky terrain to Hans Meyer Point (5,250m), then zigzag to Gilman’s Point (5,681m). Continue through snow to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). Descend three hours to Kibo Hut, then three more to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight rest.

After breakfast, descend through Kilimanjaro’s cloud forest to Marangu Gate to sign out and receive your summit certificate silver for Gilman’s Point, gold for Uhuru Peak. Return by vehicle to Arusha. Enjoy prepared meals, purified water, and snacks. Walk slowly, stay hydrated, and follow your guide to prevent altitude sickness.
